Privacy Policy.

How we collect, use, and protect your information.

Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Tane, a service of Shojum, LLC ("we", "us", "our"), collects, uses, and protects information about you when you use our business formation and registered agent services. By using our service, you agree to this policy.

02

Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

  • Account information: name, email address, phone number, country, password (hashed)
  • Business information: business name, entity type, and state of formation
  • Identity information: we ask only for what a specific ordered filing requires — currently your name, business details, and contact address. We do not collect passport numbers or other government identity documents. Tane provides ITIN guidance only and does not submit ITIN applications.
  • Payment information: processed by Stripe; we do not store full card numbers
  • Usage data: page paths, referral hostnames, campaign parameters, and a truncated IP-derived daily visitor identifier for security and cookieless analytics
03

How We Use Your Information

  • To provide our business formation and registered agent services
  • To file documents with state agencies on your behalf
  • To communicate with you about your orders and account
  • To pass on legal notices and state correspondence received by your registered agent
  • To process payments and prevent fraud
  • To comply with legal obligations
04

Sharing Your Information

We share your information only with:

  • State filing agencies — necessary to form your business and maintain compliance
  • Northwest Registered Agent — our fulfillment partner for state filings, and the provider appointed as your registered agent of record
  • Stripe — for payment processing
  • Cloudflare — our infrastructure provider, including hosting, storage, and transactional email delivery
  • Resend — a backup transactional email provider, used only when Cloudflare email delivery is unavailable
  • Google and GitHub — only if you choose to sign in with one of them, and only to confirm your identity and email address
  • Law enforcement — only when legally required

We do not sell your information to advertisers or third parties.

05

Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS for traffic, provider encryption at rest, salted password hashing, and protected session tokens. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data.

06

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Delete your account and data (some records may be retained for legal compliance)
  • Receive a copy of your data in a portable format, on request

Account deletion is self-service in your account settings. For the others — including a copy of your data — email us at privacy@shojum.com and we will handle it by hand.

We do not send marketing email, so there is nothing to opt out of. Every message we send is transactional: order and billing updates, and security notices about your account.

07

Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. Our first-party Minori analytics is cookieless: it records page paths, referral hostnames, and selected campaign parameters, and uses a privacy-reduced visitor identifier that rotates daily. The browser may store first- and latest-touch campaign attribution in local storage so a purchase can be attributed to its source. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-day analytics identifiers.

08

Data Retention

We retain account data for as long as your account is active. After account deletion, we may retain limited records (e.g., tax filings, financial transactions) as required by law for up to 7 years.

09

Children

Our service is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from minors.

10

International Users

Our infrastructure is hosted on Cloudflare's global network. By using our service, you consent to the transfer and processing of your data in the United States and other jurisdictions where we operate.

11

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy periodically. Material changes will be communicated via email. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
