Why it is here
Not everything
should be code.
Every other study in this collection is motion someone wrote. This one is motion someone rendered, and it is the most finished of them. The decision it records is an editorial one rather than a technical one: a mark is used often enough, and looked at closely enough, that it is worth exporting rather than approximating — provided the static version underneath is complete on its own, and provided the animated layer is treated as an enhancement that a browser, a codec, or a reader’s stated preference is allowed to decline.
The most polished motion on the page is the one piece that was not written as motion at all. Treating the animated mark as a media asset rather than a drawing buys a level of finish no CSS timeline would reach, at the cost of three codec containers and a static fallback that has to look finished on its own.

- A static SVG wordmark with a muted, inline-playing video absolutely positioned over it at zero opacity, crossfading over 500ms; the same asset supplied as .mov, .webm and .mp4 because no single container carries transparency across browsers, with separate light and dark encodes chosen from the resolved theme; playback on pointer enter only where the pointer is fine and hover is real; one forced run the first time the page scrolls past ten pixels, so touch visitors see it once; a rewind-and-replay 750ms after the run ends while the pointer is still held; a pause on click, on Safari only; the play call deferred to idle time, on Safari only; preload set to metadata on Safari and auto elsewhere; and no playback at all under reduced motion
