Why it is here
The most careful
thing on the page.
An ambient background is the easiest place on a site to be wasteful, and this one is the opposite: node count scales with area, the frame loop is unscheduled rather than idling when the field leaves the viewport or the tab goes to the background, device pixel ratio is capped, thousands of links resolve to six batched strokes, and a coarse-pointer visit gets a smaller field at half the frame rate with the physics switched off.
It reads as decoration and is engineered like a product: a fixed seed so the composition is authored rather than random, a walk that can only drift one row at a time so every trail looks like a route, and a loop that is not scheduled at all when nobody is looking at it.
