Drag the globe, pass the pointer over a marker, then click one — choosing a place turns the globe to bring it round to the front. Simple is an even dot field carrying no geography; Land masks the same field to a coarse, hand-simplified coastline. Appearance follows your system setting and can be overridden on the panel; the dark treatment is the source’s own. The source draws real land from a bundled map dataset under a WebGL atmosphere, which this specimen does not reproduce at either setting.

A rotating globe is the part that gets noticed and the part that matters least; it is an orthographic projection, a hemisphere test, and a drag ratio. The design work is in what happens at a marker: one component that reads as a label while you are only passing through, and becomes a focusable dialog with hosts, counts and an action the moment you commit — without the layout jumping, because the growth happens in a row that was already there at zero height.
The globe is the least interesting thing about the globe. What carries it is the escalation: the same card serves as a one-word tooltip while the pointer passes and as a focusable dialog once something is chosen, growing its second row rather than swapping for a different component.

- An orthographic globe drawn to canvas from real land geometry beneath a WebGL atmosphere layer built from layered Perlin noise; an initial rotation of minus twenty degrees on both axes; drag at 0.3 degrees per pixel with latitude clamped to plus or minus ninety; markers culled by a near-hemisphere test and picked by nearest-within-sixteen-pixels rather than by their drawn size; markers drawn as small squares whose colour is mixed toward a warm flicker palette by a per-marker intensity, with three stacked shadow passes at blur radii of six, sixteen and thirty-six building the bloom, and only places with something upcoming taking part; a surface canvas softened by three quarters of a pixel beneath a sharp marker canvas; a theme block swapping ocean, land, marker, and flicker colours between paper white and near black; a focus target that rotates the globe to bring a chosen place round to the front rather than cutting to it; a card positioned above the marker and clamped horizontally to stay inside the stage, serving as a tooltip on hover and a focusable dialog once selected, expanding from one grid row to two over 200ms with its content crossfading behind it; dismissal on Escape or an outside pointer press; a scale-and-fade entrance; and a theme block swapping ocean, land, and marker colours
