Why it is here
A chart that
keeps its shape.
The hard part of a multi-metric chart is not drawing three charts; it is convincing a reader that they are looking at one. This does it by holding the vertical axis still, reversing the horizontal one so the good corner never moves, and re-projecting every element on a single shared curve. The label layer is the giveaway of how much work that took: the source ships a placement solver with candidate positions, collision padding, ownership rules and a backtracking budget, versioned in the markup as a layout number.
Two decisions carry it. Reversing the value axis means the desirable corner is the upper right on every metric, so switching tabs never asks the reader to re-learn the chart; and moving every element on one shared curve makes the switch read as the same data seen differently rather than as a different chart.

- A metric switch that re-projects points, labels, series path data and gridlines on a shared 600ms cubic-bezier with a 120ms opacity crossfade; a fixed number of tick slots per axis, where a metric with fewer ticks collapses its surplus onto the last real tick and fades them out so the axis slides rather than rebuilds; a horizontal axis reversed so zero sits at the right on every metric; a per-series line through ascending effort levels with the default level drawn at full strength and the rest at forty-five per cent; point fill crossfading over 140ms and unhovered points held at 0.78 opacity; dashed hover guides routed around the label block back to both axes, printing exact values while the axis tick each would collide with fades out on a matching 70ms and 90ms delay; a hovered point’s own label gaining a second line that names the run and a halo thickened by half again, with labels the expanded block would occlude dropped to nothing; a reduced-motion block disabling every transition; a theme block carried by the figure itself, keyed to the document’s theme attribute, that swaps background, axis, grid, halo, point stroke, and control colours between white and pure black; and a label placement solver whose layout version is published in the markup
